DeLi Linux is a GNU/Linux Distribution for old computers.

DeLi Linux 0.8.0 is the next big step and the first release of the 0.8.x branch. Main focus of the 0.8.x series will be internationalisation.

The biggest changes are:

• switched to UTF-8 as the default encoding
• dropped GTK1, switched to GTK2 (2.10)
• switched to pacman package manager (from Arch Linux)
• Netsurf or Skipstone as web browser
• Abiword 2.4.6 with ODT plugin
• Gnumeric 1.6.3
• Linux Kernel 2.4.36.4, now with LSI Logic support (important for VMWare guests)

Unfortunately the hardware requirements had to be raised.:

• for running the GUI at least 32 MB RAM are recommended
• a MMX capable processor is recommended for multimedia applications
• a full installation with all apps requires about 750 MB space on hard disk

Consider that this resembles an about 10 year old computer/laptop and this is the first time since the first release in 2002 that the hardware requirements are raised. DeLi Linux is still the desktop GNU/Linux distribution with the lowest hardware requirements available.

DeLi Linux ist eine GNU/Linux Distribution für alte Computer.

DeLi Linux 0.8.0 ist der nächste große Scritt und das erste Release der 0.8.x Serie. Die 0.8.x Reihe setzt den Schwerpunkt auf Internationalisierung.

Die größten Änderungen sind:

• auf UTF-8 als Standard-Kodierung umgestellt
• GTK1 ist rausgefallen, auf GTK2 (2.10) umgestellt
• auf pacman Paketmanager (von Arch Linux) umgestellt
• Netsurf oder Skipstone als Webbrowser
• Abiword 2.4.6 mit ODT plugin
• Gnumeric 1.6.3
• Linux Kernel 2.4.36.4, jetzt mit LSI Logic support (wichtig für VMWare Gäste)

Leider mussten die Hardwareanforderungen erhöht werden:

• Um graphische Anwendungen laufen zu lassen werden mindestens 32 MB RAM empfohlen
• Für die Multimedia-Anwendungen wird ein MMX-fähiger Prozessor empfohlen
• eine Vollinstallation mit allen Anwendungen benötigt etwa 750 MB Platz auf der Festplatte

Beachten Sie, dass dies einem etwa 10 Jahre alten Computer/Laptop entspricht und es das erste mal seit dem ersten Release im Jahre 2002 ist, dass die Hardwareanforderungen erhöht werden. DeLi Linux ist weiterhin die Desktop GNU/Linux Distribution mit den niedrigsten Hardwareanforderungen die verfügbar ist.
